We had high hopes the 2019 SoGlos Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards – sponsored by Neptune Rum – would be even more popular than the first year of the Awards, but our expectations have been blown away as more than 15,000 votes have been cast in the first two weeks alone.

The SGGLA voting stage opened on Monday 11 March 2019, with 220 Gloucestershire businesses and organisations up for the public vote via soglos.com/awards.

We have some incredibly creative examples of shortlisted businesses drumming up support from their loyal customers, supporters and fans: with eye-catching SGGLA window stickers, posters and flyers displayed at venues across Gloucestershire.

Online, businesses and organisations have also been going to great lengths to spread the word, adding ‘vote for us’ badges to their websites and email newsletters, writing blog posts and extensively sharing the news on social media with the #SGGLA hashtag.

So, it’s little surprise that in just two weeks 15,000 votes have been cast by members of the public selecting their favourites across the 22 SGGLA categories – from best restaurant, hotel and independent shop, to food/drink producer, live music venue and wedding venue.

With four more weeks of voting remaining, SGGLA 2019 is on track to smash last year’s vote count of 20,966, and anticipation is already mounting for the official awards evening on Thursday 16 May 2019.

Being held at Gloucester Cathedral, the awards evening will welcome around 400 Gloucestershire business people coming together for a celebratory evening of networking, supper, drinks and the live reveal of the 2019 SGGLA winners.
