One of our favourite things about digital media is tracking and transparency – giving us a terrific opportunity to play Carol Vorderman, run reports and number-crunch to our hearts content.

Back for a third consecutive year – and with more than £6,000 worth of prizes up for grabs, including gourmet hampers, family experiences, luxury hotel stays and even a vintage Routemaster bus – the Great SoGlos Advent Giveaway gave us some big numbers to put into the calculator!

Ran across the first 24 days of December on SoGlos’s Facebook page, the #SoGlosAdvent giveaway reached a phenomenal 404,428 people on Facebook alone in the run-up to Christmas.

Each day of the giveaway was sponsored by a prestigious local company – including the likes of Gloucester Rugby, Land Rover Experience, Slimbridge Wetland Centre, Ross & Ross Food and Three Counties Showground, as just a few examples – with each day reaching an average of 16,851 people on Facebook and gaining clients hundreds of new likes too.

This year, the most popular day proved to be Day 4, sponsored by Whole Foods Market Cheltenham, which reached a whopping 43,215 people on Facebook – with 877 people entering to win a luxurious Christmas hamper chocked full of goodies over 24 hours.

Plus, a further 38,828 people read about the giveaway on SoGlos – making it one of the online magazine’s most-read articles in 2016 – with widespread twitter publicity too.
